Exploring Plant Tissue Culture and Steviol Glycosides Production in Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni, commonly called “sweet leaf” is a medicinally and industrially important plant known to be rich in zero-calorie natural sweetening compound(s) as “steviol glycosides”. However, due its poor seed germination slow vegetative propagation, it has become rather difficult meet the increasing global demand for Stevia-based products. Different biotechnological approaches have been developed over past few decades overcome these limitations allow mass propagation of plant. Several protocols vitro organogenesis, callogenesis, cell suspension cultures during years. Apart from this, attempts also made improve production steviol glycosides through nutrient manipulation, use elicitors, hairy root cultures, genetic transformation, metabolic pathway engineering. Therefore, this review provides an up-to-date report on applications various tools enhanced glycoside production, along with detailed bibliometrics analysis. This highlights research gaps future considerations that could fruitful scientific community delve deeper into unexplored aspects architecture functionality

Extraction and characterization of steviol glycosides from Stevia rebaudiana bertoni leaves
Steviol glycosides are highly sweet diterpene glycosides found in the Paragyan shrub, Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni. Steviol glycosides, mainly stevioside and rebaudioside, principal components of Stevia rebaudiana leaf, has become well known for their sweetness and are used as non-caloric sweeteners in several countries due to their nutritional and pharmacological benefits. Hence, craving for swee...

متن کاملNitrogen Limitation Alters Biomass Production but Enhances Steviol Glycoside Concentration in Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni
The need for medicinal and aromatic plants for industrial uses creates an opportunity for farmers to produce alternative crops. Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni, a perennial shrub originating from Paraguay, is of increasing interest as a source of zero-calorie natural sweeteners: the steviol glycosides (SVglys). The aim of this study was to investigate the relevance of nitrogen (N) supply for leaf yie...

Two additional novel minor diterpene glycosides were isolated from the commercial extract of the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni. The structures of the new compounds were identified as 13-{β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-oxy} ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid {β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-O-β-D-glucupyranosyl-ester} (1), and 1...
متن کاملIs Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni a Non Cariogenic Sweetener? A Review.
Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni is a small perennial shrub of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family that is native to South America, particularly Brazil and Paraguay, where it is known as "stevia" or "honey leaf" for its powerful sweetness. Several studies have suggested that in addition to their sweetness, steviosides and their related compounds, including rebaudioside A and isosteviol, may offer addit...
